Brief Description:  Part 2: Rear rudder pedals

Well the plans for the rear rudder pedals have what I think are some errors. My F804 bulkhead already had a hole drilled for nut plates on the outer edges but no nut plate installed. The rudder pedal guide gets screwed into this hole. The plans say to mark the guide for a hole ½” from the outside edge of the bracket and then a second one 13/16” from the first hole. Well this is what I did and the bracket is a little tight against the seat rib, it will go together OK but it requires a little force to line up the holes that go through the seat ramp into the seat ramp ribs. A better plan would have been to mark the bracket for the first hole based on it being flush with the outside edge of the F084 bulkhead and transferring the existing hole location to the bracket and then marking the second hole from there. This is what I did for the right side and it all fit perfectly. So either the rudder kit instructions are wrong or the QB builder drilled these outer holes in the wrong place. The plans actually show some PP holes for these two holes but my kit only had the outer ones drilled. The second hole is off a bit with the PP hole in the layer underneath the bulkhead so I will have to displace the rivets for the nut plate. The irony of all of this is I may end up taking these guides out if I end up doing away with the mushroom cap pedals and putting in a welded tube type rudder pedal. I will start out with the standard rear pedals and see how well they work.
