Brief Description:  Parking brake knob and fit

Wow I have not had a long productive day in the shop in a long time. Of course I am doing what I like which is inventing and fabricating, not fiberglass work. It is time to fit the plunger knob for the parking brake. I opened up the hole in the actuator arm and then tapped it to match the threads of a plunger knob. I am using a knob off a canopy stop system that I decided I was not going to use. After test fitting the knob with the bracket I marked the ON and OFF positions and drilled holes to accept the plunger tab.

Happy with how it operates I match drilled the bracket baggage wall doubler plate to the aft baggage wall. I added lightening holes to the bracket where I could, I guess I could make them bigger in places but at least I saved a few ounces!

Next I drilled and installed the upper nut plate. I had to modify the baggage floor to clear the nut plate. I used on of the existing rivet holes from the old bracket, I wanted to keep the parking brake valve low enough so as not to have to make new upper brake lines yet high enough so as not to get in the way with my legs. So the brake line attachments with the valve are just a bit higher on the upper side and a bit lower on the lower side. This was a nice compromise as far as fit goes, so I have an ugly nut plate in my baggage compartment now.

I started to prime the parts only to run out when half done!!
