Brief Description:  Fabricating parking brake bracket

I made good progress on the parking brakes valve bracket. I cut some .063 sheet and then marked the locations for the rivet and bolt holes. After drilling the 3 holes common to the old bracket I test fit the bracket. The center hole of the 3 that used to hold the old bracket on will get drilled out to hold an AN3 bolt with a nut plate.

I will use a 1” section of angle stock on the outside of the valve, this will eventually get hole that the plunger know will latch into, they will be the brake “ON” and “OFF” positions. I don’t want the knob to move past these positions so I have made some stops to limit the travel.

It would not hurt if the valve moved past the latch positions, the way the valve works is the upper 27.5 degrees of travel is “OFF” and the lower 27.5 degrees is “ON” the other areas are transition areas. This gives the valve many ways to be mounted. I can reach the valve from the seat so that is why I plan to use a spring loaded plunger knob. PULL OUT and move to ON or OFF position. The nipple on the knob will run along the angle until it latches into the correct position. If the know is held out while doing this the stops I made will keep it from going past the end of the angle. The upper position is import since the knob will interfere with the brake line connections there.
