Brief Description:  Parking brake valve assembly

Christmas is close but I managed more work today. I primed all of the parking brake valve parts and let them dry most of the day. Later in the evening I riveted on the lower nut plate and test fit things clecoed in place. I adjusted the upper brake lines to line up with the new location of the AN fitting. Happy with this I removed everything and riveted on the doubler plate to the aft baggage wall.

After doing this I noted on design flaw. I installed the upper nut plate prior to the doubler plate, this means that when/if this nut plate ever needs to be replaced I will have to drill the doubler plate out to get to the rivet heads of the nut plate. It would have been smarter to install the nut plate rivets through the baggage wall and bracket doubler but I did not think of that in time. I could drill everything out now and make the design correction but there is a low probability that this nut plate will fail any time soon since the bolt will not be repeatedly installed and removed. I just thought I should point this out if there is anyone who was thinking along these same lines.

I need to pick up some pipe thread sealant, I don’t seem to have the Loctite 567 recommended by MATCO and I can’t find it locally so I ordered some on line. Since ti is the Christmas weekend I don’t expect it until late next week.

Time to move onto another area, my next concern is an equipment cooling fan. I have large certified unit but it is too big to fit behind my instrument panel, some more design work needed :)
