Brief Description:  Main tires, nose gear leg

I installed the main wheels as my first project today. I first installed screws that hole the U803 brake support with shorter bolts. I do not plan to fly at first with the wheel pants; there are 3 longer bolts that hold the inboard pant bracket to the leg. It then installed both main tires. Since I don’t know if I will have to take the tires off I have not installed the cotter pin, I have it inserted to help stop movement of the nut, I have made a note to complete this before flight.

After a workout I came back and started the nose gear stuff. After lowering the fuselage to move the hoist I installed the nose gear leg, without the nose gear leg things are tail heavy so the thing sat on the saw horse and the mains while I move the hoist. I used a close tolerance bolt for this leg like I did for the main gear legs.

I wanted to fit the nose wheel on the fork on the bench so after installing the keeper pins to the fork I slid the nose wheel on. Like the mains there should be no side play and the wheel should spin with a slight amount of drag, “slight drag” that is a technical term with no definition that I can find. My wheel spins a few revolutions with a push from the hand. I will tackle installing the fork on the leg tomorrow.
