Brief Description:  Installed main gear legs

The wheel pre-load was my last task I had to get done before I could mount the gear. While Anita was home today I thought I should get the legs installed. I first had to move some stuff around and figure out a lift and support idea.

What I settled on was using some straps I would lift the fuselage from the engine mount with an engine hoist. Very carefully and slowly I raised the front enough to get a tall saw horse under the front. I let is down enough to just rest on the saw horse but it was still connected to the hoist.

I then installed both legs which went rather smoothly, I was even able to reach in to install the nut while holding the leg. I substituted two close tolerance bolts for the standard AN hardware called for in the plans. It seems these can loosen up if there is any play, they seem tight but overtime they can work loose. The close tolerance bolts made for a tighter fit, I had to use a soft mallet and a light tap to put the bolts through.

I ran out of time so I will install the main wheels tomorrow but it sure looks good with the legs on!
