Brief Description: Placed RTV and started riveting left elevator
I finally started to rivet the left elevator skin on, after setting the RTV in place with a syringe (see builder tips) I riveted away. After riveting the main spar and the end ribs I clamped the trim tab into place to see how my fit was going to work. It came out very nice, I have 1/8" space between the trim tab and the elevator, the plans call for 3/32nds minimum. The tab also is nice and parallel with the elevator side so I guess I made my bends and cuts on the correct line. Small end of the tab bend is pretty close to 90 degrees but the root end is more like 85 degrees, I guess my block moved a bit when I bent the top so not it is off. The root end does not go near anything so I don’t think it will matter. I will have to ask a few builders that they think.
The trailing edge and root edges match up very nicely and when I run a fishing line along the trailing edge the trim tab is right in line. I did need to tweak a minor twist in the tab out; we will see how it looks after riveting.
