Brief Description:  Diode to E-bus jumper

I had errands to run today so not as much time in the shop. I started off hooking up a S700-2-10 switch to two lights. I will be using a progressive function with the switch, OFF-NAV-NAV/STROBE. I wanted to confirm the terminal pattern agreed with what I have on my Z-diagram. It worked like a charm. I did the same but this time for a progressive pattern for the LANDING and TAXI light. This will go OFF-TAXI-LAND, they will run from the same breaker but only one can be on at a time. Really with a tricycle gear I don’t need both but I am planning on it for now, this might change when I get around installing the light kit in the wing tip.

I then hooked up wires to test the battery relay and the flow to the start relay and main bus. I hooked things up with alligator clips and spare wires. This too will be progressive, OFF-BATT-BATT/ALT. I used a light to simulate the alternator. This all worked out good, I had power at the bus and one side of the start relay, I did not test the start relay, not enough alligator clips. I wanted to check the battery relay, I read where one guy had smoke on his first throw of the switch, he had the diode on one of the relays hooked up wrong, I wanted to test mine while there was nothing major to fry.

I installed the baggage area wall to find a spot to bolt the battery bus and the standby alternator regulator. I then made up the wire that goes from the diode to the E-bus. I had to do this twice because the first one was too long. The spade terminals stick out pretty far and this made the wire touch the side of the fuselage when the door panel was in the closed position. Even my second attempt touched, so I took some duck bill pliers and bent the terminal on the diode enough to get the wire to lay flatter. Now it does not touch and I also have some snake cover to protect the wire in case it does.
