Brief Description:  Caution lights

I spent a lot of time on switch locations on the forward panel I had originally planned each alternator switch next to its circuit breaker. Well when I finally started the CB panel I decided to keep all of my breakers there. I had already drilled the CB holes in the right sub-panel. So I am trying to decide what I want to do. One option is to just use plugs on the holes I will not use, this seems the easiest. I do have to mount my ELT control head but I am not sure I want to put it on the sub-panel since my ELT will change in the future and the sub-panel gets permanently riveted in place.

I decided to work on a couple of other items on the forward panel. One is a small switch that will inhibit the data flow from one GPS to the other. I then worked on how I wanted to arrange some caution lights. I took a light and measured it and then made a CAD drawing to scale and taped it to the panel. As it turned out I decided to run the lights next to the standby EFIS. The color template in the photo was the location I first tried but it interfered with the flange in back of the panel. I used the CAD drawing as template to drill the holes, I marked the center of each hole and the hole for the anti rotation tab. I first did a practice cut on a piece of scrap, and then I went for the real deal. I just had to give it a test drive so I hooked up some power to the lights. The CAD program has been great for getting things located and making my labels.
