I continued with the assembly of the aileron brackets; one issue when test fitting the bracket was the fit between the end bracket. It looks to be at a 90 degree angel but when I cleco it to the holes in the rear spar it torques a slight bit. I read where other builders have had the same issue, on suggestion was to cleco on the bottom skin to help pull everything together, so that is what I tried to do.
My first attempt was to cleco along the rear spar then work down and out. You can see from picture 1 that I almost made it. It was at this point I could not go any further. I did not even try to cleco in to the main spar for fear of messing up the primed holes trying to coax a cleco in there, you can see the gap I have in picture 2, not very good. The third picture shows the forward an aft alignment issue I have to deal with.
I tried again this time starting at the main spar then working aft or up as you see the wing in the rack. This was even worse; I could not even get the first few clecos in along the ribs. It seems like I need to compress the main and rear spars together with straps, I guess I will need to call Van’s.
