Brief Description:  Completed wing tips

My wing tips are now complete except for making new clear lens covers. I riveted the aft rib and all the nut plates and the light bracket nut plates. I then installed the remote compass and secured the wires for that. I made a standoff with a BNC bulkhead fitting; this is the cable that goes to the antenna that is attached to the inside of the wing. I will terminate the cable from the wing to one side of this connector then a small 6” section will get a BNC connector on once end so when the wing comes on and off, it is just a matter of disconnecting this one side. The cable hooks to the antenna via the shield and center conductor. You hook the shield of the cable to the ground lug of the antenna and the center conductor of the cable to the other lug. I can’t install the BNC connectors yet because those tools are at home.

I put some spiral wrap to protect the wires that run from the light to the wing root connector then zip tied them to the appropriate spots. Happy with everything I called the wing tips done and installed them with clecoes, no sense doing a bunch of screws since the tips have to be off for the final inspection. I then tested the lights, even 100 feet away the landing or taxi lights are too bright to look at; I think these will be more than enough for night operations.
