Brief Description:  Wired right wing lights

The second thing accomplished today was to lay out how to wire up the right wing. It is the most complicated wing because I will also be installing my VOR antenna there; I am using the Bob Archer antenna for this purpose. I am really not concerned with the best range of reception for the VOR portion of my radio since I have GPS, and VOR stations will eventually be all gone as GPS takes over more of the air route system.

With the wire lengths determined I built up a harness to go from the light to the connector on the wing. I decided to have connectors on both ends. One at the wing to make taking the wing tip off easier and then one for each light unit, so If they have to come out I don’t have to take off the entire wingtip. The lights are LED so the likelihood I will have to remove them is remote.

Once it was all wired up I made sure the other side wires where not touching anything and turned things on to test them out. They all worked as advertised as well as the switch position functions!
