Brief Description:  Made attachment for tail light

Well another day where something that I thought would take 2 hours took 4. I planned to install the tail navigation/strobe light onto the rudder bottom fairing. Well when I got to looking at it the part was not fiber glassed properly, instead of being nice and flat on the inside the cloth had a fold in it which left a large void. So I had two options, cut this out and re-glass the area which would not be easy since it is such a tight spot. Or I could make my own bezel and rivet it over the end complete with nut plates for the two mounting screws. I chose the latter option. I cut a hole in the rudder bottom to allow for a Molex type connector to fit then cut away the area that the nut plates would need so that it would recess into the rudder bottom. I then drilled for 4 rivets to hold the bezel in place. I mixed up some flox and applied some to the inside to fill the voids of the less than perfect workmanship of the rudder bottom then applied a thin layer to give the bezel added security before riveting it in place. I took the left over resin and mixed in some filler which will blend for a nice finish.

I then worked on sanding the elevator tips and found another void under the gel coat; I am starting to not have much faith in these gel coated parts supplied with the kit! The elevator and rudder tips have what I hope will be the last coat of filler before I apply some neat resin to fill the pin holes.

By the end of the day the fast resin I used on the rudder light mount had cured enough to sand smooth. I think it turned out well!
