Brief Description:  Battery hold down strap

Today was a change of pace now that the canopy is mostly done. I bought a Velcro strap months ago to use as a secondary battery hold down. I needed it cut and sewn in reverse with a look at one end, I had planned to get an upholsterer to do this for me but today I dusted off the sewing machine, yes my mother taught me to sew. I sewed up the strap in about 15 minutes and gave it a test fit, not bad for a guy. I think I will put the strap under the battery hold down in final assembly. A fisherman’s loop goes into the small loop I made in the Velcro then over the battery, thought another fisherman’s loop at the base of the battery tray then Velcro to itself. Between the battery hold down bar and bolts and this strap, the battery is not going anywhere. It would be bad to have a battery bouncing around during aerobatics.

My next project today was to reinstall the forward baggage wall. I will eventually button up the CB panel and install the instrument panel again so I can test the engine sensor connectivity before riveting on the top skin. Of course the panel will have to come out or at least get dropped down to rivet on the top skin.
