Brief Description:  1. Fuel Pump fitting / SD20 install

Nearly over my cold and I am hoping to get the engine hung in the next few days so today I worked though the stuff at the back of the engine. I installed the KB-090 on the inlet side of the engine fuel pump. I found how to install this fitting in the Mechanical Tool Box software I have. The only gotcha is it says torque but no value given. The instructions with the plane just say tighten down. There is an “O” ring under the nut and I would think you could be over tightened. What I found on line was an ECI overhaul manual and they specify 110 in lbs, so that is what I used.

I did not mark the bolts on the oil filter adapter (OFA) when I installed it, so I re-checked the torque and marked with sealer. With that done I could get the SD20 standby alternator and its spacer attached. The nuts, especially the lower inboard one are a pain to get on but thanks to a $35 crows foot specially made to the vacuum pad nuts from Snap On Tools, I was able to get the torques set (70in lbs IAW instructions that came with the alternator) You can see in the picture the lower nut is in a tight spot, it also covers one of the OFA bolts, so the alternator will have to come off if the OFA ever has to come off.

Google MS21344 to see how this fitting is installed. I could not fine this on VAF!
