Brief Description:  Terminal/relay tray under front seat

Today I made a tray for a terminal strip and the flap control relay. The rear stick wires will run on top of the control mount through the spar tunnel, the area under the front seat seems perfect for tying the front and rear stick controls. I only had access to the forward flange of the spar cover so my design was planned to use two #8 screws in the flange, drilled between two of the existing rivets. There were two options dealing with the rivet heads on the spar cap; make holes in the tray to clear the rivet heads or mount the tray elevated enough to clear the rivet heads. I choose the latter because the tray is wide but only attached to the flange, if holes were drilled to clear the rivet heads then the metal of the tray and the spar cap would rub, once dirt was between the two surfaces the problem could escalate.

I mad the tray elevated by putting 4 grommets that are thick enough to make the tray clear the rivet heads, this will also cushion thing from in flight vibrations. There are two washers between the tray and the spar cap, this was the correct height to clear the spar cap rivets.

The flap relay is attached to the front of the tray on a vertical piece. It will be simple matter of running the appropriate wires from the terminal strip to the relay then running power from the flap circuit breaker to the relay board.
