Brief Description:  Touched up CB panel chips

I had a couple of spots on the CB panel that had chips and I wanted to paint over the two rivets that hold the bracket; so I touched them up and then my day went downhill! I taped off the CBs thinking I would lightly spray the areas and then give it a shot of clear. Well the tape lifted and some over spray touched the labels. The paint seemed to react with the decal and melt it away. You can see what I had in the picture. I painstakingly touched up the letters with a small artist brush then gave it a coat of clear. It looks better but I am really not happy. You can see the new layer of paint; I thought the clear would cover this. One of the things I like about the hammered finish is that it is easy to touch up and blend, well I discovered that is not true when spraying touch up over a clear coat. I am not willing to redo this now, so it will stay as is and I will make this a project in the winter when flying days are few and far between.

The last thing I did today was cut the Van’s harness apart to use whatever wire runs will work for me. I pulled the landing, taxi and strobe light wires thru the spar area. I had to re-install some Adel clamps holding the fuel and brake line which seemed to take forever but that was it for the day.
