Brief Description:  (R) Console Switches

I needed to drill the holes for the switches for the right console but I was uncertain of the clearance I would have between the flood dimmers and the ELT control panel, so I used my template to cut the holes in a scrap piece of aluminum. This was a good idea since the ELT panel needed to come down a bit. Confident with the layout I drilled pilot holes and cut the opening for the ELT panel. I then used a step drill to open up the holes in the console. I also made a backing plate that has the holes so the anti rotation tab will keep the switch from moving. I had to mount two switches with the keyway down which I did not realize at first, the pitot heat switch (black in photo) has an integral LED light so it will only work one way. The Red Guard has the keyway down, the switch is a 1-3 so it will work with its keyway down, and you just use different tabs on the back of the switch.

I gave it a test fit in the plane and I think it will work nicely. I was checking for interference between the console switches and the CBs, one switch is close but I noticed I got lucky. I set up my CBs without thinking about wires that would go from CBs to the switches above. The yellow shows you that those wires will flow nicely. The read shows the location of the Pitot CB and the switch. It is workable but a location further left for the CB would have been better. I would move it if I had not labeled my panel already. So take a lesson from me, think bigger picture when setting out the CBs. I will do labels for the console tomorrow.
