Brief Description: Adding Tailcone to FWD Fuselage #1
Out into the garage by 6am looking to have another productive day. I knew today would be fun as the 'visual progress' would be very high!
-Started out riveted the F810 bulkhead and the F810C angle together. -Riveted the seat belt bracket together per the plans. -Final drilled #30 the F807 bulkhead to the aft left/right arm rests. -Uncleco'd the right side of F807 in preparation for adding F824R aft side skin. -Cleco'd the Right and left side skins into place -Cleco'd F808 bulkhead to the F824 side skins and baggage ribs. -Cleco'd F809 and F810 into the fuselage -Final drilled the F808 to the F818 baggage ribs. -Cleco'd F828 aft bottom skin section and F811 and F812 bulkheads together (kindda tricky) -Uncleco'd the aft portion of the bottom skins in the mid-fuselage to allow the F842 aft bottom skin to slide underneath. -Attempted to cleco the F842 tailcone bottom skin into place. Not having any luck lining up the holes. Then I realized I had the F824 side skins OUTSIDE of the mid fuselage skins and they should have been inside-not good. The whole assembly had to be uncleco'd to get then under (I tried just removing part of the assemby but the alignment got very wierd so I just started over. Lost about an hour on that screwup - oh well! -After getting everything back to the right spot Icleco'd the F842 tailcone bottom skin to the aft side skins and the longerons and the mid fuselage side skins. I still need to cleco it to the bulkheads but I ran out of time and clecos - again! Avery gives you about 200 less than you need of 3/32" and 100 too few 1/8"
I have to say it looks VERY COOL!!! Too bad I'll have to take it all apart before it rivets togther- such is the life of a metal airplane constructor.
Top is riveting the F810s and bottom is the seat belt brackets.
