Brief Description:  Upper Longeron Bending

Today was the day for the dreaded upper longeron bending. I stared at the plans for a while until I felt oriented and them went to work.
First step and it's very important is to mark each longeron bend location (one at 34 3/16" and at 81 1/4"). The plans don't say but be sure to mark a 'top' and 'side' and which way is forward so you don't get lost on what you are bending. This was especially important for me as I need to ben everything in the downward direction as my vice is not permanately attached to the floor.

It was much easier than I anticipated and although I used a digit level to get it within a tenth of a degree, I think it isnt' too critical as the angle isn't very thick and it would easily yield to the fuse structure if you just got it close.

Per the first photo you can see what was required for the -1 fuselage.
Glad that is done.

I highlight the degrees of deflection that you need to obtain. Only 4 bends per longeron and no twist.

This handly and relatively inexpensive level was invaluable. He're one of the bends (2.8 degree)
