Brief Description:  Gear Tower - Assembly #6

This session ended up being alittle random. I needed to finish up a few machine countersinks on the forward floor panel in preparation for putting the gear towers on. I did that and riveted on angle that attaches the cooling ramp to the forward floor (6 rivets, no biggee).
Things got interesting when I put the gear towers into their respective locations on the forward floor and none of the holes lined up - gulp! Not good. I scratched my head for ten minutes and realized I mixed up the corner angles on the gear towers and although the left ones fit the right tower perfectly and vice versa, the hole pattern that attaches to the forward floor is differnent between right and left towers. So out comes the drill to removed 16 rivets (carefully) and out comes the socket and end wrench to removed the 20 bolts. I got them off and reprimed the corner angles and everything is ready to go back on. I could have been worse, I could have riveted the towers on backward as they holes would line up in that configuation and it wouldn't be impossible. Oh well 1 step forward, 2 steps back. Let's see this aircraft building thing is for "education and recreation" per the FAA.....that's about right!
