-Yesterday I layed out the location of the 5" in hole I planned to put in the turtle deck of my nice new fuselage. -Today I cut out said hole. Started with my dremel and a fiber cutoff wheel to rough it out to within 1/8" of the scribe line -Then I used a rotary file on the dremel to get it out to 1/32" of the line and sanded from there by hand. No complaints thus far. I don't plan to hinge it. For now I'm just going to put in a .025 doubler and fabricate a round cover and screw it down to the doubler. I don't anticiplate accessing this every flight or anything. If it becomes a pain, I can always hinge it later.
Big hole in my fuselage
I won't resuse the cover obviously.
Almost cut out. I'll put in a .025 doubler and new cover
