A common "complaint" I've heard is difficulty with high CHT's. The exit area on Van's cowls are small and people have found CHT relief by installing exit louvers. So.... layed out location of louvers, cut and trimmed areas for installing the louvers.
Layed out louver location. Inside lines will be the cut, outside will be the outer flange edge
Opening cut and inside skin cut, exposing the inner honey comb.
Using a dremel sanding drum and hand sanding, cleaned flange area for good louver fit.
