Brief Description:  Aux fuel tank design

OK... this is where experimental becomes true experimental. Having flown my Long-EZ for the past 22 yrs with access to 50 gal of fuel on board, having only 36 in the -9 is really "bugging me".

Using the concept in Navions with a 20 gal. baggage compartment aux fuel tank, I used cardboard to create a full size mockup of a tank. It will fit directly behind the seat rest, thus is closer to the pilot seat arm than the baggage arm. The idea is to have two tanks, one behind each seat with them cross tied and vented together. The outlet will feed directly to the standard fuel selector valve position that Van's normally has capped off.

The tank combo will hold approx 15-18 gal. or about 50 lbs each when full. This will give the airplane an approx 6 hr range (over 1,100 miles) plus normal reserve. Yes, I'll have to figure out a pee relief tube also!!
