Checked "as-built" weight & balance station numbers to plans.
Dropped plumb-bob from each wing LE, then measured forward 70'. Then measured back to nose and main wheel axle centerlines. Interestingly, found the wheels to be EXACTLY 1 inch forward of where the plans indicate. Or is it that the wing LE is 1 inch further aft? I find this as unexpected, as I anticipated as pre-punched kits, my airplane would be within a fraction of an inch of the numbers in the plans.

I contacted Van's and this is Gus Funnell's reply:
"A variation of 1" or so is not unusual. This is why you have to measure it rather than simply taking a number from the manual. The airplanes vary depending on many factors (leg bend angles, mount variations, weight, tire pressure etc etc.) If you did it right, the measurement is not "short" - it is correct for your airplane."
