Brief Description:  Drill Top Plate to Mount Plate; Fab Retention Clip

The next step was to remove the lower cowl and then unbolt the mount plate from the carb with the top plate still clamped to the mount plate. The pre-punched holes in the mount plate were then used to match drill the top plate.

My final task for the day was to fabricate the 6 retention clips for the K&N air filter and to drill these to the top plate such that the flanges were flush with the inside edge of the oval cutout. Nutplates will also be installed on each of these holes which will be used to bolt the assembled FAB to the mount plate that will be bolted to the carb. This will allow for the installation/removal of both the FAB and the K&N filter. I used a nutplate jig to drill the rivet holes for the nutplates.
