Brief Description: Bend, Drill, Debur, Alodine, Install Part 15
Today I worked on part 15, the aft support bracket that is used to bolt parts 6&7 together and secure them to the engine block. I had to adjust the bends in part 15 so it would align with both the engine block as well as with the aft baffles. I also had to do a bit of trimming of parts 6&7 around the engine so the lap joint between these baffles would align better.
Once all of the bending and trimming was done I temporarily bolted part 15 to the engine block, then clamped parts 6&7 to each other and to the bracket and then matched drilled these 3 parts together.
Everything was then removed and part 15 deburred, cleaned, alodined, and permanently bolted to the engine block. I torqued these bolts to 96 in-lbs per the Lycoming overhaul manual and placed some torque seal on the bolt heads.
