Brief Description:  Reinstall SL40 & Test - Works - Rx & Tx!

I received my SL40 comm radio back from Matt today. I carefully slid it back into its tray and had to test it out now that pin #9 on the J1 connector of the GMA-340 is fixed. The first thing I did was tune in 134.95 - ATIS. WOOHOO! It works! I can hear the weather, even in my basement!

Next I tuned in 135.00 on the SL40 and then set my Icom handheld to the same frequency and spent some time talking with Stevie who was upstairs in Adam's room. I can transmit and receive now!

The SL40 works fine either alone or with the GMA-340 turned on. The GMA-340 has a fail-safe in that if it loses power, Comm 1 is routed directly to the pilots headset and microphone. I just lose the intercom with the audio panel turned off,,,which, now that I think about it, means that I should power the audio panel from the main buss rather than from the E-buss since it is not essential if I ever lose the alternator. I'll have to redo that soon before I forget. I want to keep the loads on the E-buss as low as possible to conserve battery power if the alternator ever craps out.
