Brief Description: Connect Pilot Phones to Harness Pigtail
I debated the best way to connect the shielded 3-conductor cables from the jacks to the Approach Systems harness pigtails from the GMA-340 audio panel. I ended up using the pre-made solder sleeves to connect small wires to the shielding on each side of the connection. I then crimped male and female D-Sub pins onto the 4 wires on each side of the connection, applied heat-shrink over each individual pin connection, and then protected the entire connection with a final layer of heat-shink over all of the wires. This made for a very nice, neat connection. I didn't want to use butt splices for each wire since these are very small wires and 4 butt splices lumped together for each cable would have been rather large. I didn't use the D-Sub connectors themselves for the same reason. I guess I could have ran full length wires back to the Audio Panel but then that would have defeated the purpose of purchasing the pre-made Approach Systems harnesses to begin with. I think the approach I took worked out very well. Once all of the similar cables are bundled together, I doubt any of these connections would ever work loose.
