Brief Description:  Install Slick Harnesses on Mags

The next thing I did was install the Slick harnesses on the mags. I know this is risky since I haven't grounded the P-leads yet but I won't be spinning that prop any time soon since the cylinders are filled with preservative oil. The mags can kill you if they fire and you happen to be touching the wrong thing,,,like the end of one of those spark plug wires.

I was very confused by the Slick harnesses. Each connector for the spark plugs is labeled for the cylinder that it connects up with,,,i.e. T1 for the top plug on cylinder 1, B4 for the bottom plug of cylinder 4, etc. Likewise, the hubs at the other ends that scew onto the mags are labeled LH for Left Harness and RH for the right. What confused me was that this configuration was not meshing with the wiring diagram in the overhaul and operator manuals,,,at least not the primary diagram. Turns out the harnesses mesh with the "optional" wiring diagram in the manuals.

The right mag fires B1, then B3, then T2, then T4
The left mag fires T1, then T3, then B2, then B4

There is "1" stamped on the mag caps, indicating the first lead to fire,,,the next to fire is counterclockwise as viewed from the back (like sitting in the plane).

The primary Lycoming wiring diagram reverses the top and bottom plugs for each mag listed above but the cylinders still fire 1, 3, 2, 4.
