Brief Description:  Install Alternator

Next I decided to mount the B&C 60 amp alternator. It wasn't difficult torquing and safety wiring the two bolt heads together but is was a bear trying to bend up those two tabs against the flats of the bolt heads. I basically used a screwdriver and rubber mallet but there definitely has to be a trick to bending those tabs. The carburetor uses tabs like these and they are all bent around their respective bolt heads perfectly.

Once the alternator bracket was bolted and double-secured to the engine boss mount I installed the alternator and tension arm finger tight. Next, off came the flywheel / ring gear so I could install the alternator belt. Once the alternator belt was on I realized I would not be able to set the proper tension for the belt and secure the final position of the alternator because the flywheel / ring gear had too much play in it because the prop isn't mounted yet.

Well, now seems like as good of time as any to install the Sensenich fixed pitch metal prop.
