The SL40 Comm was originally designed and marketed by UPS - Apollo. Garmin bought them out. However, the tray is 6.25" which is slightly smaller than the other Garmin units which are 6.30" wide. Consequently, I'll have a gap on one side or the other for the SL40.I decided to position and clamp the SL40 tray closest to the left or pilots side. The gap will therefore be on the right or passengers side. I did this so I won't have the gap staring at me all the time. :-) I'll have to figure out some way to fill this gap.The holes in the SL40 tray are also different than the holes in the other Garmin trays. They aren't really designed for countersunk skrews. However, the ridges in the tray are recessed enough that I ended up using the same #6 countersunk screws that I used for the transponder tray.Once the holes were drilled in the rails for the SL40 Comm, I temporarily bolted the tray to the rails and installed the SL40 Comm and GTX327 Transponder. Lookin good!
