Brief Description:  Create Targa Strip using 4 Layers of Fiberglass

Once all of the prep work was done, we cut 4 strips of 3" wide fiberglass cloth, mixed up a ton of resin, and saturated one strip on top of the other until all 4 strips formed one thick, saturated, fiberglass sandwich. It was great having Matt here to help me with this. There was quite a bit that needed to be done in a short period of time and having 2 sets of hands definitely helped. Once the fiberglass was layed up on the plexiglass canopy and all of the air bubbles worked out, we added a layer of peel ply and the duct taped over the entire targa strip. Matt says this will insure nice smooth edges and that the fiberglass will be held tightly against the plexiglass while the resin cures. He was worried about not having enough pressure against the bottom edges on each side so we linked 2 tie-down straps together and used the come-along ratchets to snug them down. Then we inserted a roll of paper towels under the strap on each side to hold the bottom corners of the fiberglass against the plexiglass.
