I had many more iterations of bending, trial fitting, bending the plate on the right step than I did on the right. Once the bend matched the contour of the side skin I tapered the steel plate according to the plans. I then spent a little time making a shim for the plastic support blocks to provide more edge distance for the bolt that will secure the block to the tube of the side steps.
