Brief Description: F705 Bulkhead: Rivet Top & Sides
I started riveting the F705 bulkhead together today. I was able to squeeze all of the flush rivets along the top. I was hoping that I could also sqeeze all of the AN470-4 rivets for the angle along the top but each yoke that I tried would scrape the inside web of the top channel. The row of rivets along the flange of the channel was just a little too close to the web to be able to squeeze these. I ended up shooting/bucking them which worked out fine as well. I think I'm finally starting to feel comfortable shooting/bucking AN470-4 rivets. Once the seatback angles, shims, and plates were riveted to the top channel of the bulkhead I started riveting the side channels. First up were the 4 nutplates on the inside flanges. I used the hand squeezer for these. Then I riveted the reinforcement plates to top ends of each side channel. I had to be very careful here to follow the notes on the plans and leave several holes open. These will get riveted later in assembly with other parts.
