Brief Description:  Proseal/Rivet Stiffeners; Prep Ribs

I spent some time early this morning doing some last minute things before heading up to New York with my tank and tools. Matt and Ben will be taking tomorrow off from work to help me proseal and rivet the 5 interior ribs of my right tank. Before heading up I drilled the capacatince fuel quantity sender plates to ribs #2 and #6. Then it was on to a couple of prosealing sessions. First up was the fuel cap flange. I waited until very late in the tank building process on my left tank and had to buck these rivets. I decided to follow the instructions this time and do the fuel cap flange first. This allowed me to proseal and back-rivet the flange. MUCH easier this way. The next batch of goop was used to butter up the front row of tank stiffeners. I used -4 rivets on these holes for some reason rather then the -3.5 rivets that were called out in the plan's. Most of the rivets set just fine. However, there were a couple that had bent/mashed/split shop heads due to the longer rivet size. I debated drilling these out but decided against it. I didn't want to enlarge the holes or have holes with less proseal surrounding them. I decided to leave them as is and plaster them over with a thick coat of proseal. My final batch of proseal for this morning was used to seal and rivet the back row of stiffeners. I used the -3.5 rivets and all was well with the shop heads. Once this was done, it was a 5 hour drive to Rochester, NY in a smelly proseal rich van. My final task for the day was to debur, scuff, and dimple the 5 ribs that we will be sealing/riveting to the tank tomorrow.
