Brief Description: Measure/Clamp Front Spar Plate; Trim VS
I measured the centerline of the lower portion of the vertical stabilizer joining plate that will be used to join the forward spar of the vertical stabilizer to the front spar of the horizontal stabilizer. I also marked a horizontal reference line on the bottom of the plate that will be used to align with the lower row of rivets on the front spar of the HS. Once all of the measuring was done I clamped the plate to the front spar of the HS. This plate has 1/4" offset that is designed to rig the front of the VS slightly to the left of center, presumeably to help counter p-factor, torque, etc that cause the plane to want to turn left. Well, next it was on to the front spar of the VS itself. The plans indicate that the spar must be trimmed. Not sure why this wasn't done much earlier but I marked and trimmed the spar according to the plans.
