Brief Description:  Aileron Attach Bracket Fix - Van's OK's Fix

I sent the following email to Van's:

I built my wings a couple of years ago and I'm just getting back to doing the service bulletin on the pickup tubes in the tanks, hoping to fly this spring.

Anyway, I remembered a mistake I made on the outboard aileron attach brackets, or rather on the outboard wing rib that I wanted to run by you guys but haven't done so until now.

Please take a look at the 3 attached photos.

I enlarged the aft tooling holes in each of the aft wing ribs just ahead of the rear spar to run wiring conduit, including the outboard-most rib where the aileron attach bracket is located. I didn't look far enough ahead and this caused a problem with riveting the outboard aileron attach brackets to the web of the ribs, which now had a 13/16' hole in the middle.

At the time, I ended up riveting an 0.40 doubler to the inside of the rib web and riveted around the 13/16' hole but looking at it now, perhaps I should have replaced the rib.

I tried to capture the problem from both the inside and outside of the rib for you to look at. Is this a satisfactory fix or should I replace the ribs and brackets?

As always, thanks for your help!

And received this response from Gus Funnell:

That fix looks satisfactory, you don't need to replace the rib.

Definitely good news! I feel much better about this now!
