Brief Description:  Install Flap Motor Channel; Safety Wire

Not only was today the first time that I used castle nuts and cotter pins, it was also the first time I safety wired something. First I screwed the flap motor support channel to the floor and the F-705 bulkhead. Then I bolted the flap motor arm to the actuator weldment. The final step was to safety wire the motor arm to the actuator weldment to prevent the motor arm from spinning. There is a jam nut on the rod end of the arm that serves this purpose but the safety wire is there just in case the jam nut comes loose. I didn't like how this actually came out. The plans just indicate wrapping the safety wire under the head of the bolt and then of course through the small hole that I drilled in the arm of the motor. I'm not sure why a drilled bolt head isn't used here instead of pinching the wire under the head. I think I'll order a bolt with a drilled head and redo this. The final thing that I did today was clamp the vertical backrest channel in place and drill the top to the F705 bulkhead and the bottom to the floor. I then match-drilled the right side cover to the channels.
