Brief Description:  Rivet Leading Edge Ribs to Spar

The next step involved clecoing the Leading Edge section to the spar and ribs. I then spent the next couple of hours scratching up my forearms riveting the Leading Edge ribs to the spar. The plans all for AN470 rivets to be used but there is no way that I trust myself doing this in such tight quarters - even with a helper. I'm certain I would end up with smiley's on every rivet (best case) and dent's in my spar. I called Van's before doing this on the Left Wing and they said it was ok to use LPS4-3 rivets here. Some of the inboard holes needed longer rivets though because of the doubler plates on the spar. I ended up using BSPQ4-4's on these ribs. It was very hard squeezing the pop rivet handles using only one hand and reaching through all of the lightening holes. It took some patience, a few scratches, a whole lot of grunting and the use of the ground-down pop riveter to set these but I was finally able to rivet all of the ribs to the spar.
