I decided to return the Falcon turn coordinator to Aircraft Spruce and exchange it for a Trutrak ADI. There were several recent posts on the RV-List indicating a high failure rate with this particular model. Also, I really didn't like the vibration and high pitched whine that the Falcon gauge generated when powered up. Luckily I was still within the 30-day window where I could return it for a full refund.
The Trutrak unit is very nice! It is light, solid state, doesn't vibrate, and I opted for the built in GPS for heading information. It still has an inclinometer but also displays pitch, roll, and heading. I also like the option to upgrade to an autopilot if I decide to go that route sometime down the road.
My next hurdle was deciding where to install the ADI. I ended up sliding the vertical card compass over one slot to the left and installing the ADI in the center just below the Dynon EFIS. I really like how my panel turned out!
Returned Falcon turn coordinator, moved compass one slot to the left, and installed Trutrak ADI
