Next I removed the elevators, sanded the inside flanges with 40 grit, cleaned with acetone and dimpled. There wasn't enough clearance to use the squeezer on the aft 2 holes on each side, nor could I fit a nail in each hole to use the pop rivet dimple dies. What I ended up doing for these is cutting off a nail about 1/32" longer than the depth of the two pop-rivet dimple dies mated together. I used the short nail to center the dies in each hole and then just squeezed the dies together over the nail using some vice grips. This worked out very well.
