Brief Description:  Upper/Aft Nose Gear Wheel Pant

Since I was already working on the Nose gear Wheel Pant, I decided I didn’t like the way VANs designed the Upper/Aft Nose Gear Wheel Pant interface around the Nose Gear Leg. So…it took nearly the whole month of November to fix something that really wasn’t a problem! Par-to-course, I decided I would fabricate a metal interface fairing to fill the hole behind the nose gear leg and make it aesthetically so much more pleasing. Another dumb waste of time, but I did it anyway!!! I fabricated a .065 aluminum plate making some very complex curves and bends to fit the top of the wheel pant. I spent several days building up a fiberglass composite shape the metal plate would fit into (1st Pic). Then, I covered everything I didn’t want epoxied together in a gooey combination of electricians tape, petroleum jelly, and Seran Wrap and plastered on a mixture of Microbeads and West Systems Epoxy. This is probably not the way to do it, it’s messy, and takes lots of sanding to clean up; but it should turn out good in the end. I have to ask myself..."Why do I keep doing this to myself?"
