Brief Description:  Complete Fairings for the Aft Rudder Cables (Cont.

There was a lot of finish work to complete the Fairings for the Aft Rudder Cables. After priming, I used a carbon based “Black Coat” to check for low spots in my finish work. I found several and after sanding more to eliminate the low spots, I exposed at least a hundred pin holes in the fiberglass;…again. This time I filled with bondo, re-sanded, re-primed. Next, I mixed up a batch of epoxy flox with a small amount of microbeads; riveted and bonded the fairings to the fuselage. I also taped the fuselage with two layers of electrician’s tape adjacent to the foxed area and painters tape outside the electricians tape. After curing, I re-sanded to get a ‘feathered-edge”; down to the 1st layer of electricians tape. This exposed more pin holes in the flox microbead mix, so I used bondo to fill in the pin holes and tapered to a feathered edge.
