Over the last few months, the Zenith community has experienced a number of fatal accidents in the 601XL. As the number of instances has grown, each builder has been presented with the dilemna of what their course of action (or inaction) will be. The personal drama predictably spilled over to the Zenith Matronics list and soon a few vocal members were fueling unfounded speculation that was unproductive and corrosive. On May 10, I submitted my final post on the list, citing my desire to get off the emotional roller coaster and to get back to building my airplane. For the record, that is still my intention and I want to reassure others that I am committed to the completion of my 601XL because I believe it is a safe airplane if built and flown as designed. Please do not misinterpret my absence from the shop as a lack of support for the design or personal retreat from my project. As explained in my last post, the silence has been caused by health issues. Thanks for the emails of concern. Keep watching this space, because I will be back!
