Brief Description: Installed right wing fiberglass tip
On 10/11 I trimmed my right wing tip and test fit the fiberglass tip I had. I wasn't pleased with the fit or workmanship, so I contacted the factory. While Roger was willing to send out new ones, he asked if I would like to try the new all-fiberglass wingtips that require no metal on the end. He said they are just starting to use them on the AMD planes, and ZAC is beginning to send them out with new kits. Even though they cost more, I think they are worth it for the improved appearance and ease of installation. No more crimped flanges around the inside of the wing tip. Just drill for A4 rivets (40 pitch) around the perimeter and you are done. They should look very sharp when the entire project is painted. Now that I have exact dimensions for the contour, I should be able to make a template and trim the left wing tip in half the time (right wing trimming took 4.25 hours).
