I can't believe how long it has taken to get these two parts made. Too much travel and too little shop time will do that. Add to that the fact that I lacked the specialty parts (universal solid rivets and bushings from ZAC) and tools (100 degree countersink w/ microstop and reamer) and my slow progress makes sense. To future builders, note that the 6.4mm reamer specified on the plans does not work with the bushings supplied by Zenith. I had to go to 6.5mm. When I count up the cost (including tools), I doubt that I saved much on just ordering the parts from Zenith. I do, however, have the satisfaction of making yet another part of the plane I will fly. Special thanks to Dave Clay and Debo Cox for allowing me to borrow and use their solid riveting tools. They will be on the UPS truck, headed back our way on Monday. I can't say I'm sad to get past this phase of the project. Now I can get back to good ol' Avex blind rivets again.
