Brief Description: Cut spar caps and doubler (also center spar caps)
I picked up my aluminum bar stock for caps and doublers some time ago, and have been working around it on my worktable. There aren't many good places to put eight 12 foots lengths of 1-1/2 x 1/4" aluminum. Today was my day to finally cut it down to size. Not only did I cut the outboard wing spar caps and doublers, but I went ahead and cut the four center spar caps. I thought I would use my horizontal band saw, but the blade was extremely dull (or the aluminum was one of the earth's hardest substances!) I switched course quickly and just used the good old hacksaw to cut everything. I re-measured and filed to exact length, so everything is looking very good. I couldn't resist the temptation to lay out all the parts I have so far. It is very gratifying to see this come together so well. Now on to spot drilling the caps and doublers.
