Brief Description:  Made first set of braided fuel lines

At the very least, you can say that building an airplane in the garage is an enormous learning experience. While the kits from Zenith come with rubber fuel lines and barbed fittings, a growing number of builders, especially in the Corvair community, are opting to upgrade to braided stainless steel hose throughout with AN-6 fittings. I received my initial order from Summit Racing yesterday and was ready to dive into my first fabrication tonight. I had previously learned about Koul Tools, a special device that clamps the AN socket and guides the braided line into the fitting. Working with razor sharp ends when the braid is broken is a sure fire way to donate blood. With this device, it's a piece of cake. Within 30 minutes I was fairly confidence in my sklls, so I went ahead and made up the tank-to-fuel-selector hoses for both tanks. By putting a plug in each, I should be able to test my tanks, fittings and fuel sender for leaks. I will complete that step before I close up the wing, that's for sure. Much easier to remedy now, if I happen to have a problem.
