Brief Description:  Airplane riveted!

I distinctly remember the day I got two big boxes of rivets from Textron. 4,800 of the small size (A4) and 4,400 of the larger A5s. Because I hadn't even formed my first part yet, it seemed like a long road to pull 9,200 rivets in my garage. Well today I practically finished off both boxes as I pulled the last structural rivet in the fuselage of my airplane. It is one structural piece and it is completely rigid from one end to the other. After checking the weight capacity of my sawhorses, I couldn't resist climbing into the cockpit and firing up my inviso-engine to take a spin or two around the patch. What fun! This is one of those red-letter days that sticks with you. I expect the only thing that will change the extent of my grin is the realization of how much is left to accomplish. Thus, the builders cliche holds true: "90% done, 90% to go."
